SERVICE · TECHNICAL SEO

Casino SEO for licensed operators, technical first

We find and fix the crawl, indexing and speed problems that are specific to regulated casino sites: geo-blocks that stop Googlebot, near-identical state pages, promotions that expire into errors, and lobbies that load hundreds of game tiles before any text.

Casino technical SEO is the work of making a licensed casino site easy for search engines to crawl, render and index without breaking geo-compliance. In practice that means letting Googlebot reach pages that real users in your licensed states see, consolidating duplicate state or province versions, and keeping game and promotion URLs stable as the catalogue changes.

On a large regulated casino site, the first problem is rarely the copy. It is plumbing. Google sees a fraction of the pages, or five copies of the same one, and no amount of new content fixes that.

What casino SEO covers

Casino SEO is the work of getting a licensed online casino found in search for the people allowed to play with it. It has four parts, and they depend on each other in this order.

PartWhat it involvesHow we handle it
TechnicalCrawl access through geo-gates and age gates, indexing, duplicate state pages, speedThe core of this page; covered in every plan
ContentLicence, payments, game and help pages that answer real questions with sourced factsPage optimization and briefs; see content strategy
AuthorityLinks and mentions from other sitesWe do not buy or sell links; we help you earn mentions through accurate listings and useful pages
AI visibilityHow AI assistants describe and cite the brandPrompt panels in every plan; see iGaming GEO

We lead with technical work because crawl and indexing problems are a common risk on licensed casino sites, and because nothing else pays off until Google can see the pages.

Casino SEO by licensing regime

US states. Online casino is live in seven states. Each state has its own regulator and its own age and responsible-gambling messaging, and Googlebot crawling from outside your licensed state is the main technical trap. State pages need real differences to be indexed separately.

United Kingdom. The Gambling Commission's rules cap bonus wagering at 10x from January 2026 and online slot stakes at £5 or £2 by age. CAP rule 16.3.12 bans gambling ads with strong appeal to under-18s, and the ASA has treated affiliate and social posts as ads. Older bonus and game pages often need reviewing against both.

Ontario. The AGCO bars public advertising of inducements, so bonus content belongs on the operator's own site. Our Ontario iGaming SEO guide covers structure and content in detail.

Six problems that keep casino pages out of the index

These are common risks on regulated casino sites. Each one is invisible to a normal site visitor and obvious in a crawl or in Search Console's page indexing report.

Geo-blocking that also blocks Googlebot

Google documents that Googlebot mostly crawls from US IP addresses. If your site redirects or blocks every visitor outside New Jersey or Ontario, Googlebot may only ever see the block page. The fix is not to cloak. It is to let informational pages load for everyone while gating account creation and real-money play.

State and province pages that are 95% the same

An operator licensed in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey may publish three versions of the same game page with only the state name swapped. Google picks one and ignores the rest, sometimes the wrong one. We decide which URLs deserve to exist separately, based on real differences such as game availability, payment methods or responsible-gambling contacts, and canonicalize the rest.

Promotions that expire into soft 404s

A welcome offer page that returns a thin "offer ended" message, with a 200 status code, wastes crawl and confuses Google. Expired promotions should redirect to the current offer hub or return a proper 410, depending on whether they ever earned links.

Game libraries that multiply URLs

Filters by provider, volatility, theme and feature can create millions of crawlable combinations. Only a few of those match how people search ("Pragmatic Play slots" is a search; "high volatility Egyptian megaways with buy feature" mostly is not). We pick the facets that deserve indexable pages and keep the others out of the crawl.

Provider descriptions copied on every operator

Game pages that use the studio's stock description are word-for-word identical to hundreds of other casino sites. Google has no reason to rank yours. Adding verified facts the provider publishes, such as RTP ranges, plus your own notes on how the game plays in your lobby gives the page a reason to exist.

Lobbies that fail Core Web Vitals

A lobby that loads 300 thumbnails and a live-dealer widget before the first heading will struggle on Largest Contentful Paint and Interaction to Next Paint on mobile. Lazy loading below the fold, reserving image space, and server-rendering the first screen usually move the numbers more than any plugin.

What the audit covers

AreaWhat we checkTypical output
Crawl accessrobots.txt, geo-IP behaviour for Googlebot and Bingbot, age gates, JavaScript rendering of lobbiesList of blocked or unrendered templates with fixes
IndexingPage indexing report, canonicals, noindex use, duplicate state and province templatesCanonical and consolidation plan by template
ArchitectureClick depth to key game, sportsbook and promotion pages, internal links, faceted URLsNavigation and facet rules your developers can implement
LifecycleHow expired promotions, retired games and old blog URLs are handledRedirect and status-code map
PerformanceCore Web Vitals field data in Search Console and CrUX, lobby and game page weightPrioritised fixes by template
Structured dataOrganization, BreadcrumbList and Article markup, and markup that misrepresents visible contentCorrected JSON-LD and validation notes

Review stars are a common trap. Google has not shown review rich results for an organization's reviews of itself since 2019, so an operator marking up its own rating gains nothing and adds risk.

HOW THE WORK RUNS

From first crawl to fixed templates

WEEK 1

Access and crawl

Search Console read access, a full crawl from US and UK locations, and a sample of server logs if you can share them.

WEEK 2

Findings by template

Issues grouped by page type, not by URL, so one fix clears thousands of pages.

MONTH 1 ONWARD

Tickets your team can ship

Each fix written with the problem, the evidence, the change and how to test it.

MONTHLY

Re-check and report

We confirm what shipped, track indexing in Search Console, and pick the next templates.

On the Foundation plan the technical review covers up to 50 URLs per month; Growth covers 250 and Multi-Market 1,000. Developer time to implement changes is yours or quoted separately.

QUESTIONS

Casino SEO questions

Do you need access to our servers or CMS?

No. We need read access to Google Search Console and, ideally, Bing Webmaster Tools. Server logs help us see what Googlebot actually requests, but a crawl and Search Console data are enough to start.

Can you fix geo-blocking without breaking our licence conditions?

The aim is the opposite of a workaround. Informational pages can be readable everywhere while registration, deposits and play stay gated to licensed locations. Your compliance team signs off the exact rules before anything changes.

How long until we see changes in Search Console?

Fixes to blocked or duplicated templates often show in the page indexing report within a few weeks of Google recrawling them. Ranking changes take longer and depend on competition, so we report indexing and impressions separately from positions.

Are links the most important factor in casino SEO?

They matter, but on licensed casino sites, pages Google cannot crawl or index can cost more. Buying links is also link spam under Google's policies and a reputational risk for a licensed brand. We fix the technical and content side first and leave link acquisition out of scope.

We are a new casino with no authority. Can you help?

Yes, with realistic expectations. A new licensed site should start with flawless technical foundations, a strong licence and help section, and market pages for each state or province, then build toward competitive category terms. Early wins tend to come from brand, help and long-tail queries.

When should a casino invest in SEO?

Ideally before launch, so the site structure and market pages are right from day one. Fixing architecture after thousands of pages are indexed is slower and riskier.

Does schema markup still help casino sites?

Organization and BreadcrumbList markup help Google understand the brand and site structure. FAQ rich results stopped showing in Google on 7 May 2026, and an operator's own review stars have not produced rich results since 2019. Schema is useful housekeeping, not a ranking shortcut.

Do you work on sportsbook sites too?

Yes. The crawl and indexing work is similar, but event pages expire far faster, which changes the redirect rules. Our sportsbook AEO service covers the content side.
